(All the below content and photos were extracted from Loving Kindness Vietnam Website) In early November 2019 we visited the Sunflower Orphanage in Nha Trang. We had coordinated with the caretakers and brought lots of essential supplies, including bags of rice, bags of bean varieties, a bag of sticky rice, new bowls and washcloths, toiletries, cleaning products, and many new pairs of slippers for the children. When our team arrived, the children helped stack all the supplies in the common room. They were quick to try on their new slippers, then our team handed out balloons and snacks for the children to play. It was a very fun visit! This charity trip was made possible through a donation from the BEI Foundation. Thank you!!! In mid-October 2019 we visited the Lac Thien Orphanage. We had asked the nuns what they were in need of and organized a trip. We brought the orphanage a new bicycle for the children to share and lots of essential supplies. Supplies included clothes, rain ponchos, umbrellas, undergarments, toiletries, cooking pans, utensils, serving plates, mosquito nets, balloons, and snacks.
The children gathered in the common room and had fun with the balloons and snacks. Some were eager to try out the new bicycle. Our team had a nice long visit and the children eventually gathered for lunchtime. A fun visit!
This visit was made possible through a donation from the BEI Foundation. Thank you!!!

Ms. Fidan Suleymanova of SOS Azerbaijan kindly contributed the following notes:
'On October, 29 - November, 02 Dr. Reeta Sonawat delivered one more training for teachers in Baku, Azerbaijan on the topic 'Transforming Human Behaviour and Development'. The training was conducted with the funding support of the B.E.I. Foundation in the framework of Public Education Support Project. Thus, 17 teachers and pedagogical staff of SOS Children's Villages Azerbaijan have benefited from the training. The topics covered were chosen in accordance with the teachers´ requests following their last training in January, 2019.
Teachers play a vital role in the development of children and their brain. One of the main aims of Public Education Support Project is to empower teachers, so they could provide quality education for the children, deprived of parental care and children in vulnerable conditions. All teachers participated in the discussions, role plays and case studies. The topics covered, such as mindfulness, emotional intelligence, empathy, whole language approach, transformation of individuals towards education, and theories of Freud, Vygotsky and Gardner -- were of great interest to the participants.
We are looking forward to hold more trainings in the coming future by our dear Dr. Reeta Sonawat!'
